Projects with known issues, regulatory concerns, or user complaints. Not defunct yet, but worth extra due diligence.
This watchlist documents publicly reported concerns. Inclusion does not mean a project will fail โ it means users should conduct extra research. We aim to inform, not alarm. Information is sourced from regulatory filings, user reports, and news coverage.

Transparency Concerns
Unclear ownership, opaque operations, missing audits
Issue: Multiple US state securities regulators have taken action against Nexo's Earn Interest product. Nexo exited the US market in late 2022.
Status: Operating normally in non-US regions. European operations continue.
User Impact: US users lost access to services. Non-US users unaffected but should monitor.
Issue: Crypto.com has significantly reduced card benefits multiple times. Ruby/Jade tier cashback caps introduced. Spotify/Netflix rebates removed for lower tiers.
Status: Still operating, but benefits are a fraction of original offering.
User Impact: Users who staked CRO for card tiers saw ROI projections collapse. Monthly cashback caps hurt power users.
Issue: Multiple user reports of sudden account closures without clear explanation. Some users report funds being locked during closure process.
Status: Operating, but check Reddit and Trustpilot for recent user experiences.
User Impact: Some users report difficulty retrieving funds after account closure. Always maintain withdrawal paths.
Issue: Any crypto card offering 8%+ cashback on all spending should be scrutinized. BlockFi, Celsius, and Voyager all offered high yields before collapsing.
Questions to Ask: How is the yield funded? What's the counterparty risk? Is it sustainable?
Red Flags: Yields that require token staking, rewards paid in volatile tokens, vague explanations of how rewards are funded.
Issue: Many new crypto cards launch with impressive promises but limited track record. Waitlists, "coming soon" cards, and pre-launch tokens carry extra risk.
Questions to Ask: Is the card actually shipping? Who issues it? Is there a working product or just a waitlist?
Advice: Wait for real user reviews before depositing significant funds. Check if they have actual card issuing partnerships.
