Swipe was a crypto Visa card that offered up to 4% cashback based on SXP token staking. The card supported spending from multiple cryptocurrencies.
In July 2020, Binance acquired Swipe. Initially, this seemed positive — Binance's resources would help scale the product.
However, Binance gradually merged Swipe's card program into the Binance Card. The independent Swipe card was discontinued, and users were migrated to Binance's platform.
The SXP token continues to exist and powers the Solar Network, but its original utility for Swipe card staking is gone.
This is the "softest" failure in our graveyard. Swipe didn't go bankrupt or scam anyone — it was acquired by a major player. But the independent Swipe card product no longer exists, and users had to adapt to a different system.
